A POEM BY STEPHANIE BINDEMAN

Quiet Supervision
She keeps a measured distance,
Gently easing off her tie;
Ready to respond should danger call,
Vigilant she keeps a watchful eye.
Understatedly alert, she holds her ground.
And chooses what to stop or let pass by.
Oblivious to their mother’s cares,
They rest content shared beneath the tree,
Then plan adventures; dream of grand escapes.
One stands, with longings to be free
Then hesitates. No rush, here happy and secure.
He checks she’s there …occasionally.
Does not our Heavenly Father wait
When, often we are unaware?
We go about our daily lives
Absorbed in routine thought and care
Yet when we stop, unwind, let go,
We turn and sense his presence there.

About Stephanie Bindeman
I started my career with a BA (hons) in Art and Design at Manchester, specialising in Textiles. After initially doing freelance work, I moved to Leicester to do a PGCE and then obtained a teaching post in Suffolk. I later took up the position of Head of Art in a large Secondary School, a position I held for many years. Although I still do a little teaching, I am now retired and have the time to pursue my own work. I paint for pleasure, sometimes to commission and have recently started exhibiting in both Suffolk and London.
